Give to Puerto Rico This Easter
posted on April 03
The Missouri Conference has come alongside Puerto Rico in responding to Hurricane Maria. By May 1, 2019 over 300 people will have served on over 32 teams! As a Conference we have raised nearly $100,000 of our $150,000 goal. We have been able to complete construction on the first two phases of our three-phase plan. As we near Annual Conference 2019, we are eager to meet our goal of $150,000 for Puerto Rico's recovery.
Would you consider giving your Easter offering towards the recovery of Puerto Rico? We've created several worship resources, located at www.moumethodist.org/puertorico, for use in the local church as we work together to meet our goal.
For teams wishing to serve in the coming year not yet registered, you can sign up your team in two places: First, to get on the master calendar of the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico. please fill out this form. Indicate that you are a CTC team with a partnership in Vieques. Second, registering your team here will ensure that the Conference Office can support you along the way.
As a result of Missouri's enthusiastic response and eagerness to serve, the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico has requested more flexibility in using our teams across the island in rebuilding efforts to meet unmet needs. Missouri churches will likely serve in Vieques, but if team skill sets seem particularly important to another project, the staff in San Juan will help place people in the most needed areas. We are asking team leaders to prepare their team to serve in the larger recovery effort as we work with the leadership in the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico.
Finally, the call for medical teams is on hold as the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico adapts to changing needs on Vieques. There will be a need for specialists in the coming months and if you would like to register your groups' skills so that you may be kept informed of the changing medical needs, please fill out this form.
Missouri has responded but needs continue. Please consider how your church or group may engage in our larger efforts.
